About

About Karma Compass, by Karma

Karma Compass is the board management product from Karma, built so a nonprofit board can run its meetings and the work between them without a director ever learning a new tool.

What we make

Karma Compass drafts board agendas and minutes, assembles the board packet, collects RSVPs and votes over email, and follows up on action items. Agents prepare the work; a named person on the board approves each thing before it becomes official. Directors RSVP, vote and read the packet from links in their email, with no account and no password.

It is built around the documents a board already has. Upload the bylaws once and the product answers questions about quorum, terms and voting with the page cited. Paste the last minutes and each action item gets an owner and a follow-up. Schedule the next meeting and a draft agenda is waiting, built from what is still open.

Who we are

Karma Compass is made by Karma, whose AI-powered funding software helps foundations run grants, hackathons and requests for proposals. Karma Compass brings the same approach, agents that do the work and people who approve it, to the boards of the nonprofits those programs fund, and to any nonprofit board. We are based in the United States. You can find us on LinkedIn and X, and write to us at support@karmahq.org.

The name is shared with organizations we have no connection to, including a volunteering nonprofit in San Francisco. If you are looking for them, this is not their site. If you are looking for software to run a nonprofit board, you are in the right place.

How we work

Nothing official without approval. Every agenda, set of minutes and vote starts as a draft and becomes official only when someone with the authority to approve it does.
Directors do not need a login. Participation is designed around email, because that is where directors already are.
The honest answer first. Our guides give the general answer a board secretary needs before they describe what the product does, and they say when a question is one for your counsel.
Your records stay yours. Anything you upload can be downloaded again, and moving from Pro to Free deletes nothing. See the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

About us, briefly

  • Who makes Karma Compass?

Karma Compass is made by Karma, the team behind karmahq.org, whose AI-powered funding software helps foundations run grants, hackathons and requests for proposals. Karma Compass is its product for the boards of the nonprofits those programs fund, and for any nonprofit board.

  • Is Karma Compass the San Francisco volunteering organization of the same name?

No. Karma Compass, by Karma, is software for running nonprofit board meetings, at compass.karmahq.org. It is not affiliated with other organizations or websites that use the name Karma Compass.

  • Who is Karma Compass for?

Nonprofit boards: the chair, the executive director, officers such as the secretary and treasurer, voting and non-voting members, and the staff who support the board. Directors take part from their email without an account.

  • How do we reach the team?

Email support@karmahq.org, use the chat on the home page, or book a demo from any page. We answer security questionnaires and walk boards through a security review on a call.
